Dancing on the wonderful floor of the Poinsettia Pavillion while enjoying a view of Ventura and the Channel Islands
Meet our Bands
Teddy & Betty
Teddy & Betty are stuffed bear DJs who bring fun music to ballroom dancing. They were gifts to Dennis when he first started creating his music playlists. He is their manager, music editor, sound engineer, and roadie! But primarily, Dennis is a fantastic dancer. He says "Teddy & Betty" play music that will entice good dancers to return for more fun! And while the music plays, Dennis shares his wonderful dancing talents with all the ladies. And we're all grateful.
Dennis has been providing the music for the Wednesday morning dance at the Goebel Center in Thousand Oaks for more than a decade. Join us there! (Ask him for details or pick up one of his cards at our dance.)
DJ Tom:
Since Tom started his professional career as a 14-year-old musician in New York City nightclubs, his purpose has been for the audience to feel the music he plays in their bodies and souls. His goal is to make the audience dance and feel happy.
With the shift to DJ music, when most dances generated less income to pay good bands, Tom created a variety of DJ playlists to meet the diverse needs of dancers. He became involved with serious ballroom events about 15 years ago when he met Joan Robinson and Yelena, the owner of the Hollywood Academy of Dance in Van Nuys. Tom now headlines most of the music there. It's only luck that our dances fall on Mondays—a DJ's "night off"—so that we can entice him to play for the Ventura Poinsettia Club.
